PA SON MARTIAL ARTS
At Pa Son Martial Arts our classes are divided by age and rank. They are 3.5 to 4.11 year-olds, 5-6.11 year-olds, 7-12.11 year-olds, 13+ year-olds.

Tae Kwon Do

A unique conditioning, discipline and physical development exercise, our Tae Kwon Do classes are taught by an innovator in the field with 20 years of experience adapting traditional Tae Kwon Do techniques as a teaching tool for young children. This ancient Korean martial art is an ideal vehicle for teaching children not only physical skills, but also confidence, discipline, listening skills, structure and restraint.

By emphasizing kicking techniques, the practice teaches children to use muscles they are not intimately familiar with, while helping to develop coordination and balance and promoting core and lower body strength.

For our youngest students, 3.3-4.11 years old we offer training once per week. We focus on hand eye coordination, listening and motor skills, and peer/partner interaction.

In our Dojang format children 5 years old and older can choose to practice up to 3 days per week with a regular curriculum, studying forms, self-defense and sparring. The classes have a strict emphasis on safety and control, and students are taught the difference between fighting and Tae Kwon Do’s non-violent sparring techniques.

Weekday classes are for children only, while our Saturday classes have parents and caregivers join in the exercise, with our coach showing the parent/caregiver techniques to help their child practice the skills in their home environment.

Jiu Jitsu

Jiu-Jitsu(JJ) came from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan Judo in the early 20th century, which was itself then, a recently-developed system (1882), based on multiple schools of Japanese jujutsuis. JJ is a non-striking self-defense martial art system based on leverage and control over the opponent. It is considered to be one of the best self defenses since it’s applied in response to physical aggression, so there’s no need to worry about your child becoming violent.

This martial art focuses largely on grappling and ground work. It incorporates the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground, and provides a greater position to resolve conflict by using submission holds. It also promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend himself against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique; most notably, by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. All the techniques are purely defensive and utilize no strikes.

Jiu-Jitsu(JJ) will help your child achieve their full potential by increasing their self-esteem and confidence. They will learn how to deal with tough situations such as peer pressure and bullying. As a parent, it is hard to shield your child from all of the negative influences that are present in our world today but with martial arts, your child can learn the right way to deal with them and have the confidence to move forward with their goals.
